A Christian Wedding

The Pastors and staff at Cheyenne Berean consider it a privilege to assist you in your wedding plans. As the traditional wedding ceremony reminds us, “Marriage is an honorable estate, instituted by God, regulated by His commandments and blessed by His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Because marriage has been established by God for the welfare and happiness of mankind it is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, and in the fear of God.”  We are committed to providing Christian counseling and a Christian wedding ceremony that will enable those being married to have every advantage as they start a new life together in Christ.

Scripture warns about premarital sexual intimacy. Statistics bear this out. The percentage of those who divorce dramatically increases if they have been involved in premarital activity. Therefore, each couple will be asked about their situation and all couples will be required to enter into a purity covenant. As you are probably aware, there are various Biblical approaches to the difficult subject of divorce and remarriage. Here at Cheyenne Berean each pastor has the liberty to follow his conscience in this area. If you have been previously married, please be gracious and understand that the situation requires that you find out a pastor’s particular view.

Statement of Purpose

Dear family and friends, we are gathered here in the presence of God, and these witnesses, to join together ________ and ________ and in holy marriage. Marriage is a sacred covenant, instituted by God, regulated by His commandments and blessed by His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Because marriage has been established by God for the welfare and happiness of mankind, it is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, thoughtfully, deliberately and in the fear of God. Into this holy union, this man and woman come to be joined.

Wedding Meditation

Moses, Christ, and Paul give the same instruction concerning the union of a man and a woman, "a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." Christ also adds, “Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." As you join your lives together in this holy union you must leave your parents; cleave to one another exclusively; weave your lives together; and believe that this union should and will last by God’s grace and mercy. When by faith you commit yourself to these truths, then you will receive the blessing ordained by God for your marriage. Finally remember that there is something you each must do to make your marriage successful, according to the Apostle Paul, the husband “must love his wife” and the wife “must respect her husband.” (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5; Mark 10:8-9, Ephesians 5:31-33).
